Politician pets a dog and wins election
Note to politicians: You may want to stop kissing the babies and pay more attention to the dogs.
This morning, San Diego mayoral candidate Jerry Sanders voted (presumably for himself) and then stopped to pet a dog on the way out of the polling place. Due to the resulting groundswell of support from pet lovers, he went on to win the election. (To be completely truthful, as of 11:13 pm and with 87.2% of the vote counted, Sanders leads his opponent by 8.5 points, so we're declaring him the winner.)
Never underestimate the power of the pet vote! (Maybe if the Govinator had pet a few more dogs, his propositions might've done better.)
