SpongeBob is Shell-Shocked When His Beloved Pet Gary Runs Away From Home
I don't care that he's a cartoon--his pet is missing, he's in pain, and we're going to report it!
Bikini Bottom is in shock--SpongeBob's beloved pet snail Gary is missing! In "Where's Gary," a half-hour special premiering on Nickelodeon Friday, November 11 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT), Gary runs away from home after feeling neglected by SpongeBob and is "adopted" by a new owner.
Marjorie Cohn, the cold-hearted Executive Vice President, Development and Original Programming, Nickelodeon, seems to feel it's fun to cause poor SpongeBob and Gary pain. Does she feel sorry for this mean-spirited storyline that will likely traumatize kids and adult fans of the show? No, she says, "It's fun to see Gary express a whole range of emotions using only his signature 'meow.'" (Click here to read more.)
So, if you think it's entertaining to watch poor lost snails and broken-hearted sponges, then tune in on Friday, 11/11. Or, kids can also visit Nick.com where a snail-seeking undersea adventure awaits in the "Trail of the Snail" Flash game. In addition, on November 15, kids can pick up the SpongeBob SquarePants "Where's Gary" DVD at select retailers.
