Rex Murphy bites Tom Green’s leg

Do you remember Tom Green? He's been a little under the radar since he became the former Mr. Drew Barrymore and released the unspeakably bad movie Freddy Got Fingered. The poor guy--he also had to deal with testicular cancer (and because he is who he is, many people thought he was pulling a prank when his condition was first announced.)

Well, you can't keep Tom down--he's planning a return to the limelight. And he won't be alone: Rex Murphy will be along for the ride.

Those of you up in Canada might be thinking, "Rex Murphy? The CBC reporter?" No, not that Rex Murphy. This Rex Murphy has feathers and likes to bite Tom's leg and lovingly gnaw on Tom's lip with his beak.

Mr. Murphy is Green’s new parrot. On a lark, Tom bought the bird in a California pet store, then decided to name him after reporter, who has been particularly unkind to Tom.

Would Tom introduce Rex the bird to Rex the reporter? “I wouldn’t want Rex Murphy to get the avian bird flu … and I’m talking about my bird.”

So, about that career resurrection: Tom is releasing a solo rap CD and his second directorial attempt, Infamous, is due in 2006. Here's hoping Tom's next movie is better received so he can keep Rex in bird food!
