Hero dog for sale in Taiwan

There are no typical "celebrities" in this news item, except that the dog at the center of the story has become a celeb in Taiwan and around the world in the past week.

You've probably heard the story of the hero dog who saved a newborn infant by pulling the baby out of a toilet and licking him clean so he could breath. The baby was born to an unemployed single mother who was living in a charity-run dormitory. The mother gave birth in a toilet but then fainted, and her baby would've died if not for the heroic pooch.

The mother cannot afford to keep the pet, so he is being offered for sale--and hundreds of Taiwanese are vying to become his new human companion.

The story ends on a sad note, however--the mother cannot afford to keep her child either, so the charity that runs the home is offering both dog and baby for adoption, and "sadly, there are more people interested in adopting the dog than the baby," according to a representative. Here's hoping all concerned end up living happily every after.
