From the streets to costarring with Cameron Diaz
He once lived on the streets and now is a highly-paid Hollywood actor. Such is the experience of Hamlet, a mixed-breed, mostly pug pooch.
Hamlet was living on the streets of Morris County, New Jersey three years ago when he was saved and placed at a homeless pet shelter. It was there his talents were recognized by Steve McAuliff of Animal Actors. McAuliff's company specializes in training animals for show-business appearances.
"He was an energetic, busy little dog, and very inquisitive -- habits that might not be real desirable in house pets, but certainly a great fit for Animal Actors," said an administrator at the shelter.
Hamlet recently made his movie debut in the critically acclaimed "In Her Shoes," where he also became the envy of males of other species by getting a bath from star Cameron Diaz.
