Paris asks for Xmas gift of tiger
It is not uncommon for pets to be requested or given as gifts at the holidays. But even for Paris Hilton this request goes a bit far, don't you think?
The Sunday Mail reports that Paris has asked her boyfriend, Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos, for a Christmas gift of a baby tiger. Paris supposedly told a friend how cute baby tigers are, adding "They're like 100lbs."
I hope she's checked with the city and state for their laws on tigers as pets! Paris recently ran into difficulties when she adopted a monkey contrary to local laws; authorities confiscated the pet, as a result.
And while we're sure Paris is a good (or at least good-intentioned) pet owner (no matter what the readers of Hollywood Dog and New York Dog think), perhaps tigers are best left in zoos where they can be managed and raised by professionals.
(P.S. We would be remiss if we didn't mention that we agree with the Humane Society of the United States: Unless the giftee and gifter have carefully considered and discussed a pet prior to the holidays, it is much better to wait until after the holidays to adopt rather than surprising someone with a pet as a gift.)
